USDA Secretary nominee Tom Vilsack received bipartisan praise from senators during his confirmation hearing in the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Feb. 2.
The committee voted to advance his nomination to the full Senate, where only a simple majority is required.
His nomination was expected to be confirmed by the full Senate in the following days, after WLJ press time.
