USDA is extending the deadlines for the Pasture, Rangeland and Forage Pilot Insurance Program (PRF) and Apiculture Pilot Insurance Program (API) until Dec. 1. USDA said it pushed back the deadline based on feedback from stakeholders.
“The date changes will provide additional time to help producers who are busy preparing their operations for the winter,” said Risk Management Agency (RMA) Acting Administrator Richard Flournoy.
PRF and API are each rainfall index crop insurance policies to aid producers whose forage for livestock and honeybees has been affected by precipitation.
In addition to changing the deadline, RMA is revising the definition of “veteran farmer or rancher” to include those whose spouse is not a veteran and allowing acreage to be reported as organic if a certificate has been requested by the acreage reporting date.
