William Perry Pendley’s name has been officially withdrawn by the White House for consideration as the director of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
The White House announced at the end of August it planned to withdraw the nomination, but plans to keep him in office. Now that the Senate is back in session, the withdrawal is official.
Democrats have asked for a new nominee to lead the BLM and to remove Pendley entirely. House of Representatives Democrats also plan to meet with the House Natural Resources Committee and the Oversight Committee to evaluate Pendley’s time at BLM.
