The USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has announced a plan to increase collaboration with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to help communities recover from natural disasters and related emergencies.
The plan will improve coordination, communication, and training between the two agencies.
“NRCS and FEMA share a common mission of helping people who are impacted by natural disasters and emergencies, so it makes sense to work together in these situations to provide the best service and assistance to those who have been affected,” said NRCS Acting Chief Kevin Norton.
The two agencies signed a memo of understanding in 2018 to provide more efficient service to those impacted by disasters by increasing training opportunities, enhancing communication, and establishing a plan to coordinate efforts between the agencies’ disaster responses.
