Legal Ledger Brief: Meetings, rulemakings over WOTUS

The Environmental Protection Agency and Department of the Army have announced a schedule for initial public meetings to hear from stakeholders on their perspectives on the definition of waters of the United States (WOTUS).

The agencies plan to conduct two rulemakings following stakeholder input: a foundational rule to restore longstanding protections; and a forthcoming rule that builds upon the regulatory foundation. The meetings will be held virtually on Aug. 18, Aug. 23, Aug. 25 (for small entities), Aug. 26 and Aug. 31.
