The House of Representatives approved legislation Feb. 11 that authorizes funding for more agricultural inspectors at land, air and sea ports.
The Protecting America’s Food and Agriculture Act of 2019 will add 740 new agricultural inspectors to prevent animal diseases from entering the U.S., as well as 600 new agricultural technicians and 60 new agricultural canine teams.
The Senate approved an identical bill back in October, and the bill will now head to President Donald Trump’s desk for signing.
