The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) issued an expanded emergency declaration on March 18, exempting livestock haulers from the federal Hours of Service regulation, as reported by the California Cattlemen’s
California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) also issued an executive order upon the FMCSA’s announcement for intrastate or interstate transportation from California’s Hours of Service regulations.
This California-specific exemption will remain in place as long as the FMCSA’s order is in place.
