The U.S. Forest Service (USFS) is proposing a rule change that would allow greater flexibility in handling cases of unauthorized or excess livestock grazing on national forests and grasslands.
The proposed rule would recognize grazing as a conservation tool and economic resource and would allow for nonmonetary settlement when unauthorized or excess grazing in unintentional. USFS is seeking public comment on the proposed rule change.
The revisions would follow the recommendations laid out in the 2016 Government Accountability Report, Unauthorized Grazing: Actions Needed to Improve Tracking and Deterrence Efforts.
The commenting period will be open until Dec. 2 and can be submitted by searching for Docket ID 2020-24164 on federalregister.gov; or mail to U. S.
