On Sept. 8, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced it will undertake three new rule-makings to reduce PFAS and nutrients from certain industries.
“To protect drinking water supplies, recreational waters, and aquatic ecosystems, it is essential that we utilize the latest scientific and technological breakthroughs in wastewater treatment,” said Assistant Administrator for Water Radhika Fox.
The three rulemakings will address per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) discharges from facilities manufacturing PFAS; PFAS discharges from chromium electroplating facilities; and nutrient discharges from the meat and poultry industry.
