USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Wildlife Services (APHIS-WS) seeks public input in the planning process for the development of a new Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for predator damage management (PDM) in Idaho.
APHIS-WS currently uses an integrated PDM approach with access to full range of lethal and nonlethal methods to reduce predator conflicts. The EIS will study the effects of PDM on environmental issues and other public concerns including: population impacts; humaneness; economic risks; and human and pet safety.
Once completed, the EIS will “replace APHIS-WS’ environmental assessments on predator damage management in Southern Idaho, predator damage management in Northern and Central Idaho, and gray wolf damage management in Idaho,” according to the notice released by APHIS-WS.
