The latest COVID-19 relief package authorizes a third round of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP 3), providing additional payment to ranchers for cattle in inventory between April 16 and May 14.
Cattle producers will receive additional payments based on a formula utilizing differences in the original Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act payment rate, the Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) payment rate, and the CFAP 2 payment rate.
The following payments will be paid: $63/head for slaughter fed cattle; $25.50/head for feeder cattle greater than 600 pounds; $7/head for feeder cattle under 600 pounds; $14.75 for mature slaughter cattle; and $17.25/head for all other cattle.
Producers may apply to the program through Feb. 26.
