Opposition has grown regarding the pending confirmation of President Joe Biden’s pick to lead the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
Tracey Stone Manning’s confirmation vote has yet to be set, even though her Senate hearing was held well over a month ago. GOP opposition has grown against her nomination, especially after Stone-Manning’s involvement in a controversial tree-spiking incident was made known.
In 1989, as a college student, she mailed a threatening letter to the U.S. Forest Service on behalf of environmental activists who tied spikes to trees that were to be logged.
Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY) sent Stone Manning 39 pages of questions July 13 to be answered by July 16, after WLJ press time, “in order to enable preparations for a possible” committee vote on the confirmation.
