President-elect Joe Biden has selected two more top administration officials who will have an impact on the ag community.
Rep. Deb Haaland (D-NM-1) was chosen to lead the Department of the Interior, and will be the first Native American to do so. National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) said they stand ready to work with Haaland.
“We look forward to working with her on policy that recognizes and supports livestock producers’ role as environmental stewards and protectors of natural resources,” said NCBA Executive Director of Natural Resources and Public Lands Council Executive Director Kaitlynn Glover.
Biden also tapped Michael Regan as his nominee to lead the Environmental Protection Agency. Regan has served for the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality since 2017, and will be the first African American man to serve in the role.
“NCBA stands ready to engage with Mr. Regan on environmental issues important to the beef cattle industry,” said NCBA Vice President of Government Affairs Ethan Lane. “Cattle producers across the country rely on clean water, air, and soil for the health of their livestock and families, and they take great pride in the myriad investments made in those resources through responsible stewardship.”
