President Joe Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law on Aug. 16, devoting hundreds of billions of dollars toward combating climate change and improving health care.
The bill was moved through the Senate on Aug. 7, passed only by a tiebreaker vote from Vice President Kamala Harris. The act passed along party lines in the House of Representatives on Aug. 12 by a vote of 220-207.
“This bill is the biggest step forward on climate ever, and it’s going to allow us to boldly take additional steps toward meeting all of my climate goals—the ones we set out when we ran,” Biden said during the signing.
