Boston startup Brown Foods is introducing UnReal Milk, the first lab-grown whole cow’s milk made without livestock, Forbes reported.
It is produced using mammalian cell culture and replicates traditional dairy’s nutrition, taste and texture, according to the company. The product can be processed into butter, cheese and ice cream, and is intended as a sustainable alternative with 82% lower carbon emissions and drastically reduced water and land use, UnReal Milk said. Independent testing by the Whitehead Institute confirmed the product is structurally similar to conventional milk.
Forbes said taste tests are planned for this year and a pilot for 2026.
