The proposed merger between Kroger and Albertsons has been delayed as the companies continue to work with regulators.
The companies now expect the deal to close in the first half of Kroger’s fiscal 2024 after ongoing discussions with the Federal Trade Commission and state attorneys general, the companies said in a joint statement.
“We remain committed to closing the transaction and providing the meaningful and measurable benefits that we promised when we originally announced the transaction,” the grocery giants said.
Kroger’s fiscal second quarter ends Aug. 17.
