JBS S.A. announced it is investing $22 million in the first phase of the JBS Biotech Innovation Center—a research, development and innovation center for cultivated protein in Brazil.
In total, the JBS Biotech Innovation Center will require approximately $62 million in investments in three phases and will be the largest biotech center in Brazil. The initial objective will be to make cultured protein production process more efficient, scalable and economically competitive. The center will employ 25 postgraduates, doctors, specialists and administrative support staff when completed.
