On Sept. 17, JBS SA announced that the board of directors unanimously elected Josй Batista Sobrinho, founder of JBS, as president of the company; he was the company’s first president and has been a member of the board of directors for 10 years. He is the father of brothers Joesley and Wesley Batista who were recently arrested and will complete Wesley’s term as president. The board also established a global leadership team responsible for providing advice and counsel to the president. The team is comprised of three senior JBS executives: Gilberto Tomazoni; Andrй Nogueira; and Wesley Batista Filho, who currently manage JBS’s main business areas and will continue to fulfill their current roles and responsibilities. Additionally, last Monday, JBS announced the creation of the role of global chief operating officer and the appointment of Tomazoni to that position; and the appointment of Wesley Batista Filho to the position of president of JBS operations in South America, reporting to Tomazoni. Batista Filho was most recently president of JBS USA’s beef division, having held senior leadership positions at JBS in five countries since 2010.
