The Department of the Interior announced it would no longer require the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to prepare environmental impact statements (EIS) for more than 3,200 oil and gas leases in seven western states.
The announcement supports President Donald Trump’s “Unleashing American Energy” executive order released earlier this year.
BLM will no longer prepare an EIS for oil and gas leasing decisions encompassing 3.5 million acres across Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming.
