Bartels Packing of Eugene, OR, may be on the path to reopening. According to a report in the Capital Press, a potential buyer has submitted a “letter of intent” to purchase the assets and property. Although unable to answer specific questions, the court-appointed receiver, Richard Hooper of Pivotal Solutions, confirmed to WLJ that a letter of intent was in place. WLJ reported the closing in its March 26, 2018 issue, noting that the plant closed suddenly on March 16. The family-owned business had been a presence in the area since 1898 and was most recently focused on grass-fed natural beef and certified organic beef. Hooper could not say if a timetable was in place for a decision on the offer.
