IA bans foreign ownership of ag land

By Iowa State University Extension

In early April, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) signed Senate File 2204 into law, which will ban foreign entities from owning ag land in the state.

“Adversaries like China have grown significantly more aggressive on the world stage, constantly looking for any opening to assert themselves at the expense of our country,” Reynolds said. “One all-too-common weapon in this battle is the purchase of American farmland.”

She continued that the law will send the message that American soil belongs in American hands.
