The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is changing its name to Humane World for Animals effective on Valentine’s Day.
Kitty Block, president and CEO of HSUS, announced the change in November at the To The Rescue! gala in New York City, New York.
“The Humane World for Animals is strong, it is memorable, and perfectly captures who we are and what we are striving to achieve,” Block said.
The group said it has outgrown the “humane society” term, which is more often associated with local animal shelters.
