More than 300 ag groups penned a letter to Congress urging lawmakers to pass a new farm bill.
“It is critical that Congress pass a new farm bill that strengthens the safety net as many producers are facing multiple years of not being profitable and this is causing their overall financial situation to deteriorate,” the groups wrote.
They urged Congress to pass a new farm bill by the end of the year before thousands of family farms are faced with no options to continue operations. The letter was signed by national commodity groups, banking associations, state agriculture departments, state farm bureaus and others.
