On Aug. 15, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, in consultation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, captured and relocated a subadult male grizzly bear in Fremont County after cattle depredation on U.S. Forest Service land.

The bear was relocated to the Mormon Creek drainage near Yellowstone’s east entrance, based on age, sex, conflict type and proximity to nearby human activity. Officials emphasized that reducing human-related attractants, such as garbage and livestock feed, is critical to preventing conflicts and minimizing the need for future relocations.
