A coalition of 30 environmental groups called on the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Arizona Game and Fish Department and New Mexico Department of Game and Fish to release captive Mexican gray wolves.
“Federal and state agencies need to stop killing wolves with important genes and start releasing captive breeding wolves in family packs to give wolves the best chance at survival and recovery,” said Michael Robinson of Center for Biological Diversity.
The groups asked the agencies to release male/female pairs with their pups, stop removing wolves from the wild and allow pair formations and matings between Mexican gray wolves and northern gray wolves.
