The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) released an August depredation report showing five new determinations for June and July.

During the one-week span from June 26 through July 2, of the five investigations conducted, four were confirmed as wolf kills, with three linked to the Whaleback Pack in Siskiyou County and one to the Harvey Pack in western Lassen County. The remaining investigation determined a non-depredation loss.

In 2024, CDFW confirmed that gray wolves had killed 20 livestock animals in California, including four lambs, a llama and 15 cattle, with half of the losses attributed to the Whaleback Pack.
