A Food and Drug Administration (FDA) scientist has proposed the group revoke its health claim that soy protein reduces the risk of heart disease. Susan Mayne, Ph.D. said the reason for the proposal was due to numerous studies which do not support the claim. “Our review of that evidence has led us to conclude that the relationship between soy protein and heart disease does not meet the rigorous standard for an FDA-authorized health claim.”
