The family behind home-building giant D.R. Horton is selling one of America’s largest ranches, the Great Western Ranch in New Mexico, for $142 million.
The sale follows the recent death of D.R. Horton’s founder, Donald Ray Horton.
According to the real estate firm Hall and Hall, the property spans approximately 504,801 acres and includes 225,582 deeded acres, along with state and Bureau of Land Management leases.
Located near Quemado, NM, 150 miles west of Albuquerque, this operational cattle ranch supports 1,900 cow-calf pairs and includes eight homes, barns, wells and more.
The area is famous for its abundant wildlife populations, with the ranch benefiting from a lease arrangement with Black Mountain Outfitters.
