Environmental litigation groups, including the Center for Biological Diversity, are suing Tulare County, CA, over its climate action plan. The groups say the plan would “undermine California’s greenhouse gas reduction goals” and threaten a number of endangered species, including the Central Valley steelhead, the California tiger salamander, and the San Joaquin kit fox. The county is home to over 1 million cattle, many of them dairy cows, and produces more milk than any other single county in the country. The litigation groups claim the dairies and feedlots in the county contribute to air pollution. Participant groups include the Association of Irritated Residents, Sierra Club, and the Center for Biological Diversity. — WLJ
