Eggs recalled for possible salmonella

August Egg Co. of Hilmar, CA, is recalling 1.7 million dozen brown cage-free and brown certified-organic eggs due to potential contamination with salmonella, linked to an ongoing outbreak.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 79 infections across seven states by June 5, with 21 hospitalizations.

The recalled eggs have plant codes P-6562 or CA5330 and Julian Dates between 32 and 126.

These eggs were distributed from Feb. 3 to May 15 in California and Nevada at retail locations, including Save Mart, FoodMaxx, Lucky, Smart & Final, Safeway, Raley’s, Food 4 Less and Ralphs. Products produced from Feb. 3 to May 6 were also recalled from Walmart stores in Arizona, California, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Washington and Wyoming.
