The Department of the Interior (DOI) announced significant progress in ensuring the long-term health of the Colorado River System.

Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner Camille Calimlim Touton, alongside leaders from key water districts in California and Arizona, signed five water conservation agreements supported by President Joe Biden’s Investing in America agenda. These agreements will conserve over 717,000 acre-feet (an acre-foot is 325,851 gallons) of water by 2026, and through long-term deals with the Gila River Indian Community, will save an additional 73,000 acre-feet over the next decade to advance water conservation in the West.
