Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) announced it does not plan to translocate additional gray wolves during this release season, but will continue to review its options for the winter 2026-27 season.
“During this intermediate time, CPW will continue to meet with producers and other stakeholders, including U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, to explore how to maximize the restoration effort and achieve our plan of establishing a self-sustaining gray wolf population in Colorado,” said CPW Acting Director Laura Clellan.
CPW has confirmed reproduction in four packs and is working to determine how many wolf pups survived the summer and will be recruited into the population.
The agency plans to continue to implement measures outlined in its Wolf-Livestock Conflict Minimization Program Guide, which include conflict minimization efforts for livestock producers and compensation details.
