Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) is considering diversionary feeding to deter the Copper Creek wolf pack from approaching livestock, while also monitoring several wolf dens for signs of new pups.

Following a string of attacks in Pitkin County, the state lethally removed one wolf—the first such action under Colorado’s wolf restoration program. Colorado Public Radio reported that CPW Director Jeff Davis told the CPW Commission that diversionary feeding, such as providing roadkill, could be used temporarily to distract wolves. However, it risks reducing their natural hunting behavior.

Meanwhile, local outlet 9NEWS reported CPW staff have confirmed sightings of wolf pups and are monitoring four dens using trail cameras and other methods. The agency released 15 wolves from Canada in January, five of which have since died from various causes across Colorado and Wyoming.

Reinstating the wolves in Colorado was not a good idea. Yes the reintroduction was put to a vote but did anyone realize this would have detrimental affect on the western slope, no they did not. The numbers on the eastern determined the outcome. Reinstate some wolves in Rock Mountain National Park, Boulder, Vail, Aspen, Brekenridge, Fort Collins or any Mountain Range on the eastern slope.I have quit hunting in the state because of the way CPW has mis- managed the wildlife. There was a time when Colorado was known for its hunting now it’s a joke. We cannot even by rags over the counter whose dumb idea was that? I know this was off topic but it just goes to show how mis -managed the wildlife has been done. Did anyone look into as-to why Colorado got rid of the wolves Probably not.

Bringing wolves was the most stupid thing you could ever made. I feel sorry for the ranchers that have to deal with all the idiots that decided that bringing wolves was a good decision.
