CPW confirms uncollared wolf depredation

On Feb. 5, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) investigated a possible wolf depredation in Jackson County, CO.

A field examination confirmed that a cow had injuries consistent with a wolf attack. Based on the evidence, CPW determined the cow’s death resulted from wolf depredation. The wolf responsible is not believed to be part of Colorado’s reintroduction effort, as no collared wolves were in the area.

CPW is working with producers to implement non-lethal conflict mitigation strategies. Updates on wolf depredations and claims are available on CPW’s website, cpw.state.co.us. CPW had no further comments on this incident at this time.
