The Food and Drug Administration escalated its recall of organic pasture-raised eggs from Costco to the agency’s highest alert level.

In November, eggs sold by Handsome Brook Farms sold under the Kirkland Signature brand were recalled due to possible salmonella contamination concerns. The recall was initiated after the company discovered eggs not meant for retail were packaged and distributed in retail packaging.

Egg cartons are marked with UPC 9661910680 and have Julian code 327 and a “Use by Date” of Jan. 5, 2025. Eggs were distributed to 25 Costco stores in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Consumers are urged not to consume the product and return it to their local Costco store.
