Colorado Parks and Wildlife, in partnership with the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA), has launched a fully staffed Range Rider Program with the goal of reducing wolf-livestock conflicts.

Eleven experienced contract riders from local communities and two from CDA will patrol nine northwest Colorado counties from April to October. Riders, equipped with their own gear, completed a four-day training alongside producers to prepare for managing predator conflicts. With livestock and land management backgrounds, these riders can be deployed flexibly to areas of greater need, providing vital support during calving and lambing seasons.
