On Sept. 9, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW), with federal support, completed the capture of all six animals from the Copper Creek wolf pack.
The adult female (2312-OR), male (2309-OR), and four pups were relocated for evaluation. While the female was in good condition, the male was found with injuries to his hind leg and was significantly underweight. Despite treatment, the male died four days later.
The pups were underweight but healthy, and CPW confirmed the successful capture of the entire pack after conducting follow-up surveys.
“For the safety of these animals and staff, CPW will not be sharing the location of the pack,” the agency said.
