The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is seeking public comments on another proposal for an energy project on public lands west of Las Vegas, NV. The proposal covers 2,400 acres of land about 38 miles west of the city.

The Rough Hat Clark County Solar Project would add 400 megawatts of clean solar photovoltaic power to the grid, which BLM says is enough to power over 74,000 homes.

“The efficient deployment of renewable energy from our nation’s public lands is crucial in achieving the Biden-Harris administration’s goal of a carbon pollution-free power sector by 2035,” the agency said.

BLM will hold one virtual and one in-person public meeting to discuss the project: Jan. 30 at 6-8 p.m. PST in Pahrump, NV; and Feb. 1 at 6-8 p.m. PST through Zoom.
