The California Department of Fish and Game (CDFW) released its quarterly report detailing wolf activity from April through June, showing that three of the state’s 10 known wolf families produced pups in 2025.

The Harvey Pack had at least seven pups, the Beyem Seyo Pack produced a minimum of six and the Whaleback Pack had at least nine. No reproduction was reported for the Ashpan, Diamond, Ice Cave, Ishi, Lassen, Tunnison or Yowlumni packs.

CDFW also updated maps of pack territories and noted additional wolf activity areas. Notably, a male Beyem Seyo wolf traveled into Oregon, while a female joined the Yowlumni Pack in Tulare County. Two wolves of unknown origin were detected in the Tehachapi Mountains in Kern County.
