California’s new rooftop solar policy has been appealed to the California Supreme Court by a trio of environmental groups.
The policy took effect April 15 of last year, and the groups claim it “significantly slashes the credit new solar users get for sharing extra solar energy with the grid.” The appeal follows a challenge to the California Public Utility Commission’s December 2022 action and a state appeals court upholding the new rooftop solar policy last month.
“The new new-metering policy slashes customer credits by up to 80% for electricity generated on rooftops and sold back to the grid, which reduces the financial benefit of installing solar systems,” the groups said.
