The Bureau of Reclamation’s (BOR) May 2025 forecast for the Yakima Basin shows water supplies will fall short of meeting irrigation demands this season.
While senior water rights holders will receive 100% of their allocations, junior rights holders will get just 51%. As of May 1, basin reservoir storage was at 55% capacity—73% of the average—with 581,090 acre-feet of water. Snowpack levels stood at 54% of average, and precipitation was well-below normal. Monthly forecast updates by the agency will continue through at least July.
