BLM conducts burro gather in Nevada

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) began in early October an emergency wild burro bait and water gathering operation within and near the Bullfrog Herd Management Area in Nye County, NV.

The agency planned to remove about 250 excess burros from an estimated population of 1,197 burros—far exceeding the appropriate level of 58 to 91 animals. The gather will use temporary corrals with water and hay, not helicopters.

Removed burros will be transported to the Axtell Off-Range Corral in Utah for care and preparation for adoption or sale. For adoption information, visit blm.gov/whb.

This is a good thing, last time I was driving though that area, the donkeys were eating trash at the gas station and drinking the window wash water.... it was quite heartbreaking to watch.
