A group of representatives has introduced the REAL Meat Act of 2024 to prohibit federal funding for cultivated meat research or production.

“Fake cell-cultured meat not only poses a health risk to the human body, but it also threatens the livelihoods of America’s hard-working ranchers, livestock farmers, and butchers,” said Rep. Warren Davidson (R-OH-08), a bill sponsor.

The legislation would prohibit federal funding from going to cell-cultured research and advancement, promotion, production or purchase for federal nutrition programs.
