The No American Land for Communist China Act, introduced by Sens. Mike Crapo (R-ID) and Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), would prevent China from purchasing land adjacent to federal lands.
The senators said the legislation would protect western states from China buying lands next to federal lands, which could harm critical mineral and energy production on those lands.
“Allowing foreign adversaries to purchase our land is like welcoming a fox into the hen house, and I am introducing this legislation to preserve our national security and prevent the CCP from acquiring American land to spy on our government,” Lummis said.
Sens. John Barrasso (R-WY) and Tom Cotton (R-AR) also co-sponsored the legislation.
