Congressional Western Caucus Chairman Dan Newhouse (WA-04) and House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Bruce Westerman (AR-04) introduced the Endangered Species Act (ESA) Amendments Act.

The bill would incentivize wildlife conservation on private lands, prevent the Interior Department from designating privately owned or controlled land as critical habitat, empower states to enact species recovery plans, require that removal of a species is not subject to judicial review and create more transparency in recovering listed species.

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and Public Lands Council expressed their support for the legislation.
