With demand for the plant-based protein growing, Beyond Meat recently announced it is opening a second production facility in Columbia, MO. The company said in an announcement that the new facility will more than triple the company’s manufacturing footprint. In addition to creating more capacity to create Beyond Burgers and Beyond Sausage, the company noted, “It will also allow us to produce more revolutionary meat products from plants… because that’s what we are here for!” Just this summer, The Beyond Burger’s availability has increased to more than 10,000 restaurants, bringing the total distribution footprint to more than 30,000 restaurants and retailers. “Our expanded 100,000-square foot manufacturing footprint will provide the scale we need to service our rapidly growing retail, foodservice and international customer base,” said COO and CFO, Mark Nelson. The facility is expected to create more than 250 jobs in the area. — WLJ
