The Beef Checkoff is required to contract with national nonprofit beef industry organizations for promotion, research, and education efforts under the Beef Promotion and Research Act and Order. The checkoff is now accepting applications for eligible organizations to submit funding requests for programs and projects in the 2021-2022 fiscal year.
Eligible groups are established national nonprofits that are governed by a board of directors who represent the cattle or beef industry on a national basis and have been active and ongoing for at least two years.
Organizations must submit a first-round draft of an authorization request to the Cattlemen’s Beef Board (CBB) by June 30. Groups will then have the opportunity to present information about their funding requests to the checkoff program committees at the 2021 Annual Cattle Industry Convention in Nashville, TN, Aug. 10.
The number of approved contractors varies from year to year, as well as the amount of funding, which is based on the annual checkoff collection. For the 2021 fiscal year, a total of nine contractors were approved to receive $39,380,000 in funding.
To receive more information on submitting an authorization request, interested parties must contact Sara Arp, CBB director of operations, by May 24 at 303-220-9890 or sarp@beefboard.org.
