The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) has selected 64 meat processing facilities to receive over $4.9 million in the first round of funding through the Independent Processor Assistance Program, designed to support the growth of meat processing in the state.
The program was started when Gov. Pete Ricketts (R) used a portion of the American Rescue Plan Act funds to support projects designed to improve and expand meat processing in the state.
In total, NDA will award approximately $9.8 million in grants, with the next round of funding expected in early 2023.
