Beef Bits Brief: More beef allowed in pet food to China

USDA has announced a new protocol that will allow the use of U.S. bovine ingredients and most imported ingredients in pet food being exported to China.

The two countries signed the protocol on April 13, and the implementation date was June 15. A two-month transition period will take place to ensure pet food companies can comply with the new requirements.

This new protocol is part of the U.S.-China Phase One Economic and Trade Agreement that was implemented on Feb. 14.
