JBS USA announced on May 29 that the company would be expanding their Grand Island, NE, beef production facility.
The project is estimated to cost $95 million and will include improved animal handling facilities, a temperature-controlled harvest floor and a facility reconfiguration designed to “improve team member experience, food safety and product quality,” according to a released official statement.
The project is anticipated to be completed in early 2021, but daily operations will continue uninterrupted until the project completion.
“Around the world, from North and South America to Asia and Africa, consumers crave the superior taste and quality of American beef,” said Tim Schellpeper, president of JBS USA Fed Beef, in a released statement.
“Partnering with leading Nebraska and other area beef producers, we are proud to invest in a vibrant future for U.S. beef.”
The company plans on using the expansion project to capitalize on increased international demand forecast for U.S. beef.
